Drive toward your "I wants" with headlights—and high beams—ON
I often talk about driving with intention and "high beams on." This means that you're not only constantly aware of what is going on around you (headlights on), you are also intentionally focused and scanning the marketplace (high beams on). To effect positive change and make it stick, be keenly aware of and curious about marketplace dynamics and trends so you can steer your thoughts, actions, and learning in ways that are relevant and valuable.
A great way to stay current with the world around you is the daily use of social media and technology. Start by following thought leaders and eventually you will have meaningful ideas of your own to share—and people will follow you. This puts you in a far better position to get questions answered, learn what is happening and be able to respond quickly and nimbly to change.
